Summertime, and the livin’ is easy.
It’s true, y’all. In the summer, I’m a no-fuss, no stress, no nonsense kind of fashionista. I like to keep it comfortable and breathable without sacrificing the cute factor. Enter boho: the breezy trend that looks amazing on everyone (honestly). If you haven’t embraced your inner boho babe, you are missing out! Join me over here on the groovy side.
I love everything bohemian. Maybe it’s all of my high school years of being obsessed with the musical Rent and “La Vie Boheme” and all that jazz. I adore the way it looks so nonchalant and easy, yet not at all sloppy. The brilliant mix of fun colors and subdued neutrals combined with intricate print work and textures…can’t get enough of it. Being short and curvy, there isn’t a whole lot of boho-inspo out there for my body type, which is part of why I decided to tackle this perfect summer trend on the blog today. That, and because I got this dress for $10 on sale (hey now, honesty is the best policy, and we all love a good deal).
Not sure where to start with your boho look? Try the following, scientist-tested (not really) formula:
Eclectic pattern + flowy material + earthy footwear + mix of brights and neutrals + charming accessory + carefree tresses
This Trixxi dress was the perfect anchor piece with its vibrant hues, loose-fitting shift cut and a shark bite hem that catches the wind just right. All that color needed a little balance, so I evened things out with my favorite gladiator sandals and a classic Coach handbag in camel brown. Toss in a dainty open cuff bracelet, and I instantly felt more free-spirited. I left my hair wavy and unbrushed for that devil-may-care look to tie the whole outfit together. And not at all because I hate combing my hair. Definitely for the sake of the outfit. Maybe.
The result? Well, I could tell you all day about how young and wild and free I felt, but I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. There’s no denying that when you slip into a breezy boho outfit, you’ll be a perfect 2times5 from the moment the wind flows through your hair.
