First order of business: we are just over one week from my blog birthday party at Kendra Scott! We’re super close to maxing out the store capacity, and I’m so grateful to y’all for your love and support over the last year. If you haven’t grabbed a ticket yet, what are you waiting for? I’m giving out jewelry, gift certificates, prizes and free massages, plus making a major announcement. You’ve gotta be there. <3
And now, onto today’s outfit. Oftentimes, you’ll hear me talk about fearless fashion. What does that even mean? Today, I’m going to show you with a little two-piece set from Style & Curves, an up-and-coming body positive brand based in Hawaii who believes that beauty comes in all colors, shapes and sizes.
A few years ago, I wouldn’t have “dared” to wear an outfit like this one for the same reasons that I love it today. The sliver of exposed skin between the pieces adds a hint of allure, and the curve-hugging fabric makes me feel bold and feminine. In fact, these types of two-piece sets are my favorite outfits to wear these days — especially in neutrals like black, ivory and nude.
The fit of this set is consistent with other brands. However, I sized up on the skirt for two reasons: 1) I have a lot of junk in my trunk and I wanted the midi skirt to stay a midi skirt. And 2) I like to ruche this type of fabric so I wanted to have plenty to work with. I have a 49″ bust and 54″ hips and I’m wearing a 2X in the top and a 3X in the skirt.
These clear block heels finish the look with a dash of street chic style. Paired with my waves and a bit of attitude, it’s the perfect diva-next-door ensemble. I’d reach for this combo on date night, for sure, but also for a girls’ night out or even a happy hour.
Something about a two-piece set just seems instantly elevated to me. What do you think? Do you enjoy wearing them? I can’t wait to step out in this foxy number all summer long.
