Is it Friday already!? Even though I’ve been battling bronchitis the past few days (spoiler alert: it’s winning), June has been a really exciting month for me, and much of that is attributed to my blog.
Note: Are you in the Houston area? Don’t miss out on my one year blog birthday party at Kendra Scott on Thursday, July 6th from 6-8 pm! We’re doing so many giveaways, special discounts, free massages, swag bags sponsored by Sephora, and more! The RSVP list already halfway to capacity with a little less than a month to go. Let’s show them how we party, SarahJaneReign style! I’m overwhelmed with gratitude by the response my event’s been getting, and I’d seriously love to see you there.
This past weekend, I ventured out to a little, tucked away park (and I mean hidden, y’all. I missed the street about four times, ha!) to do a shoot with Houston photographer Alice Briscoe. When I say this girl is prepared, it’s an understatement. She showed up not only with her camera, but with a picnic basket to carry supplies and a portable changing room. Yes, you read that right. She had a portable changing room so that I didn’t have to scurry to find a public restroom or struggle to change in the backseat of my (very tiny) vehicle. Talk about making a great first impression.
I had recently picked up this dress from Torrid on a whim — they were doing a buy one, get one 50% off sale and I had three items. I asked the store manager what the one item I needed to have was (she follows me on Instagram and I also shop there all the time, so she knows my style), and she pointed me to this dress. Let me tell you: it did not disappoint. Check out how I paired it with a pair of open-toed fringe booties, a skinny coral belt and a summer-ready floppy hat to create a complete ensemble.
Oh, and heads up: the umbrella is not a prop. Have you experienced Houston rain? Last Saturday, the rain was not playing. That umbrella was there just in case the forecast decided to have a mind of its own (which is, you know, all the time).
I hope you love this look as much as I do. It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, which is definitely my favorite Disney movie and certainly one of my favorite books. Enjoy, honeybees.
